Academic Program

English

The High School English program at PARC International School is designed using the New Generation Common Core Standards (NNCC) that prepare students for life outside the classroom. The program allows students to develop their confidence as creative, innovative writers through exploration of an extensive range of genres including- but not limited to- fiction, nonfiction, drama, and poetry from various time periods and places. The program will also foster a love of reading and writing that will lead to a meaningful interaction with texts while enriching their vocabulary and building conceptual skills that prepare them for in-depth analytical study and develop an understanding of critical literacy

The department emphasizes student-centered learning and continually works to instill in learners a genuine interest in reading. The department members work collaboratively to enhance students’ thinking and writing skills, improve their results, and boost their self-confidence. At PARC, we strongly believe that exposing students to multicultural texts would make them empathetic towards others and knowledgeable about different subjects.

Students will be able to:

1) Explain and name polynomials.

2) Solve and factorize quadratic and cubic equations.

3) Define rational and irrational numbers then classify real numbers and solve operations using radical symbol.

4) Identify and draw parts of the circle, find the measure of each angle/ sector then find the area and perimeter of each sector.

5) Identify ratios, rates and proportionality.

6) Prove that polygons and especially triangles are similar using proportionality.

7) Identify complex numbers and it’s parts.

8) solve operations including complex numbers (real and imaginary numbers).

9) Revise the Pythagorean theorem and find a missing side of a right triangle.

10) Identify sin, cos, tan, cactus, sec and cot.

11) Use trigonometry to find angles and sides of any triangle.

12) Use sin law and cosine law to find a missing angle or side.

13) Develop information about functions and polynomial functions. (Use the right hand test to determine the shape of the function).

14) Demonstrate understanding about logarithmic functions and their properties then simplify and solve equations including Log/Ln.

15) Draw vectors and find the components, resultant, direction, scalar, sum and product, then relate it to velocity and acceleration.

16) Define and name matrices and it’s types then solve operations using matrices, then find X.

17) Identify types of sequences (arithmetic/ geometric). Find the sum of finite and infinite sequence.

18) Discuss conic section (Parabolas, Elipses, Hyperbolas) and their parts.

19) Explain Permutation/ Combination and use them in problems to find the probability of an event.

19) Develop introduction about calculus (limit and continuity).

Highschool SCIENCES Grades 9-12:

By the end of the High school years, students will be able to:

The Science program at PARC International School provides students with opportunities for discovering and developing their own natural curiosity in a fun and engaging way. Our program aims to build a strong foundation in science that is characterized by deep understanding of basic science concepts and learning more advanced concepts in the future. The program will also empower them to ask more questions, think critically, and generate innovative ideas.

Our students will also build a conceptual understanding of the natural world and will be knowledgeable about the concepts and processes of the three major branches of science: earth, life, and physical sciences.
